Dreams Take Flight is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization dedicated to providing a trip of a lifetime to deserving children who have faced challenges in their lives, whether medical, mental, physical, social, or emotional. Their mission is “Making Magical Memories For Special Kids”. With the generosity of a number of corporate sponsors and Air Canada, which donates an aircraft to each of the eight chapters across Canada, they take children to Disneyland or Disney World for a one day all expenses paid trip of a lifetime. As of December 31, 2018, Dreams Take Flight has provided this experience for more than 35,000 children.
Crombie REIT is a proud supporter of Dreams Take Flight, and this year Ashley Leopold from our Talent Management team participated. Here’s what she had to say about the trip:
“There are experiences in our lives that cause us to pause, shift our perspective, and gain a deeper appreciation for our differences and commonalities, and the generous communities in which we live. Having the opportunity to participate in the 2019 Dreams Take Flight Halifax trip, which sent about 140 deserving children to Disney’s Magic Kingdom for the day, was definitely one of those experiences. April 3rd was a day jam-packed with chicken nuggets, roller coaster rides, slushies, and new experiences for me and for four little girls who were smiling ear-to-ear for close to 24 hours (even when they were fast asleep on the plane ride home!). Being given the opportunity to take part in Dreams Take Flight was certainly an experience that will impact me for the rest of my life and I’m so grateful to Crombie REIT and all of the supporting organizations who made the day happen!”
